The Romonet team helped to develop the EU Code of Conduct for data centres alongside the European Commission JRC and UK-DEFRA. Liam Newcombe (Romonet's CTO) has chaired of the code's best practice working group since it was launched in 2008 and manages the yearly review of the best practice guide.

Romonet collaborated with the Carbon Trust and BCS through a jointly funded programme to develop the data centre cost and energy simulator. The project ran for a year and delivered the simulator along with a web user interface that is currently hosted by the BCS DCSG.

Our thinking

  • As the industry grapples with metrics, which metric can be meaningful across the whole world and tell me about my data centre and IT efficiency? How about cost per delivered kWh?
